“My work engages with Exodus 3 and Go Down Moses’s theme of lament. Throughout our discussions I was interested in the act of crying out/grief and of laments being heard. I wanted my paintings and process to reflect this theme. Incorporated in the paint are objects I have crushed, buried, or burned that have undergone transformation and allow the material to be the driving force in expressing grief.”
