Sajal Siwakoti is a sculptor born in Kathmandu, Nepal, whose passion for art began at an early age when she first held a set of colored pencils—tools that felt like magic wands in her hands. After earning a Bachelor’s degree in Information Management, her path took a transformative turn when she encountered the works of professional artists. That moment of realization led her to embrace her true calling in the world of art.
She recently completed her MFA at the Herron School of Art and Design, where she refined her sculptural language and expanded her conceptual practice. Over the years, Sajal has worked as an art project manager and assistant sculptor, contributing to both national and international projects—including the costume designs for Miss Universe Nepal’s 2019 and 2021 appearances, and Nepal’s first-ever representation at the 2022 Venice Biennale as part of the Nepal Pavilion team.
While clay remains her primary medium, Sajal often experiments with a wide range of materials that help bring her concepts to life. Her work is deeply rooted in her Nepalese cultural heritage and is distinguished by a contemporary visual language. Through the integration of ancient Sanskrit scripts, symbolic gestures, and Eastern philosophical inquiry, her sculptures explore the dynamic relationship between the macrocosm and microcosm, inviting viewers into a dialogue on spirituality, consciousness, and the potential for inner transformation.
