Stephanie Lewis Robertson sings to her hand- printed fabrics while she works. Spirituality, the cycles of life and nature, and the power of women serve as her inspiration.

Ms. Robertson is a professor emerita at Ivy Tech Community College, Central Indiana until she retires in May. She was the Program Chair for Fine Arts at Ivy Tech Community College for 18 years. Among her awards and grants are three Individual Artists Grants from the Indiana Arts Commission, recipient of the Stutz Artists Association Studio Space in 2002, and an Indy Arts Council Creative Renewal Fellowship in 2001. She was a member of the 2016 Religion, Spirituality and the Arts cohort. She holds an MFA (1994, University of Georgia) and a BFA (1981, Miami University) in Fabric Design.

Her work is included in several collections, including Community Hospital North, Community Hospital South, Pratt Corporation, St. Francis Hospital (Indianapolis) and the Arts Council of Indianapolis. She maintains a studio at the Red Barn Arts Collective in Irvington.

“There have been times in my life when I have been asked to do something hard, that scared me, that I was not sure I could do. Often the ask required courage to stand up for what is right, just and fair. I need to always remember to feel that fire, look in the mirror and say yes to taking the risk and making the change. ”
